I mean you knew I would have to be back to talk about Mad Men, right? Did you watch it? What did you think?! *squeal*
I have read a few bits here and there around the internet lamenting the progression of the show into the later 60's and subsequently, the fashions moving away from the nipped waist, full skirt New Look into shorter skirts, sheath dresses and Mod fashion. Personally, I'm cool. While I am a bigger fan of the 50's/early 60's look, I kinda love where the show is going already. You can't deny the appeal of the mini skirt revolution and the body skimming shifts that show lots of leg. And the prints! So many prints! I think it is important to appreciated each fashion time period for what it was and the cultural context surrounding it. I trust that Janie Brant won't let us down with gorgeous costumes this season! And that Matthew Wiener will take the show is the direction it is supposed to go in. I guess I don't get too caught up with what I *want* to happen with Mad Men, as I do with other shows I watch.
In short, I loved it. Already counting down the days until the next episode!

My enthusiasm for Mad Men has declined slightly--nothing to do with the fashion changes, though--but I thought it was a great opening episode. I loved Peggy's black and white dress with the bow, and Joan's office visit dress. And Don's lack of manscaping! lol.
